Additional Information

Chronic Absenteeism Rate

The Chronic Absenteeism Report provides Districts and Buildings quick access to chronic absenteeism rates at the district level, building level, and student sub group levels. The calculations for attendance rate is days in attendance divided by days in membership. A student is deemed chronically absent if a student misses 10% or more of school days. A student can be chronically absent in multiple buildings during the reported school year, but will only count once at the district and state level.

Total number of students that missed 10% of school or more will sum up the chronically absent count column. The total number of students reported on EOYA records for K-12 will sum up to the EOYA head count column. The chronically absent rate is calculated by dividing the EOYA head count by the chronically absent count.

This is calculated from data submitted in KIDS EOYA records. Districts had the opportunity to verify EOYA data from May 14th to June 29th.

Please use this data to inform district attendance procedures and policies in place to best support the needs of students.
